I make dance for fans of queer love stories, for those in the closet, for recovering Catholics, for romantic cowboys, for tender hearts. My spirit of philosophical inquiry shapes my choreographic work, rendering the ordinary poetic and the divine quotidian. Inspired by my own quest to reconcile a conservative religious upbringing with the expansive nature of queerness, my artistic practice explores the joy of the spectrum between whimsy and grit, the distance between ease and rigor. I am interested in dance as lineage and as emancipator from that same lineage. Held together by gesture and stillness, my choreography interrogates structure by breaking it open into improvisation.
